From a student’s nature to his or her weaknesses, teachers at Apeejay School, Nerul, keep track of everything, says Nirmal Barman, whose daughters Sneha and Sreeja study in class 12 and 9 respectively. In an interview, the father-of-two, who works as the Senior General Manager and Regional Head- Sales and Marketing, Reliance Industries Ltd, reveals why he is “more than happy” with the school. Edited excerpts:

What got you interested in Apeejay School, Nerul?

My daughters were admitted to the school five years back. At that time, our acquaintances recommended a couple of schools in Navi Mumbai. Out of them, we opted for Apeejay Nerul mainly because of its proximity to my workplace.

What has the overall experience been like in these five years?

We are more than happy with the way the school conducts the classes, organises activities, etc. They take proper care of the students. Other than academic courses, co-curricular activities inspire students to participate and develop other skills.

Would you say the school has promoted your daughters’ personality development?

Yes, it has definitely happened and is manifested in their behaviour as well.

Sucharita with her daughters Sneha and Sreeja

Your elder daughter Sneha has just completed her term I CBSE class 12 board exam. Did the teachers prepare her well?

Yes, the teachers are helpful. In fact, she fared well in class 10 board exams as well. Overall, the school takes measures to prepare the students really well for the board exams. Sneha is dedicated and preparing for her exam based on the instructions from the school.

What kind of co-curricular activities do your children participate in?

They participate in various intra and inter-school competitions, annual day celebrations, national holiday events, games, and more.

Do teachers give them personal attention?

The teachers know both my daughters really well—their nature, class activities, strengths, and weaknesses—and guide us accordingly. There is mutual cooperation.

Is there regular meaningful interaction between teachers and parents?

Teachers encourage regular interaction. We make sure to attend all the parent-teacher meetings. During these meetings, the teachers tell us about the necessary actions to be taken for further development.
