Positive Thinking Day, celebrated annually on September 13, is a reminder of the power of a positive mindset. The day is important because it boosts resilience, reduces stress, and enhances overall well-being. It allows individuals to approach challenges with confidence, find solutions, and achieve personal growth.

“You are not a drop in the ocean; you are an ocean in the drop.” This quote serves as a reminder of the boundless potential within us. When faced with exam stress, it’s important to harness this inner strength, says Ms Snehlata Krishnan, Principal, Apeejay School, Faridabad.
‘You must start by setting small, achievable goals daily; consistency is key to building habits like regular study and exercise. Break tasks into manageable steps to avoid overwhelm, starting with familiar topics to build confidence before tackling harder material. Use selective studying to deepen understanding over time. This gradual, step-by-step approach helps maintain motivation and focus, making learning more effective’ Ms Krishnan added.
Taking care of your physical health is equally important—nourish your body with vitamin C-rich foods and aim for consistent, quality sleep. Decluttering your environment can help clear your mind and reduce stress.
For students, especially during exam time, stress is inevitable. However, the right mindset can make all the difference. Exams often bring anxiety, fear, and pressure. But what if students looked at exams differently?
Instead of viewing them as obstacles, each individual must see exams as milestones in their learning journey. This shift in perspective is the essence of positive thinking. It’s about changing the narrative from “I must succeed” to “I have prepared well, and I will do my best.” This simple reframing reduces stress and fosters a sense of accomplishment.

Simple ways to achieve adapt positive thinking
Positive thinking starts with self-belief. Students should remind themselves of their strengths, past achievements, and the hard work they’ve invested in preparing. Self-affirmations like “I am capable,” “I can handle this,” and “I have overcome challenges before” can build resilience. Moreover, developing a growth mindset, which focuses on learning and improvement rather than perfection, helps students view exams as opportunities for growth rather than as tests of their worth.
Mindfulness and meditation are also effective tools for maintaining a positive mindset. Taking short breaks for deep breathing, meditation, or even a walk can help clear the mind and reduce anxiety.

Creating a positive study environment is equally crucial. Students should surround themselves with motivating materials, such as inspirational quotes or encouraging notes. They should also engage in activities that bring them joy, like listening to music, spending time with friends, or pursuing hobbies, to balance their academic workload and maintain positivity.
Last, gratitude plays a significant role in fostering a positive mindset. Students can maintain a gratitude journal, jotting down three things they are thankful for each day. This simple exercise shifts the focus from what is lacking or stressful to what is abundant and joyful.
On Positive Thinking Day, students are encouraged to embrace a positive mindset, which can be their most valuable tool against exam stress. By focusing on self-belief, mindfulness, a supportive environment, and gratitude, students can transform stress into motivation and challenges into stepping stones.
Remember, just a small change can add a big difference to your life, slowly and gradually!
