Mrs Taruna Mahajan is a PGT Commerce teacher at Guru Nanak Foundation Global School, Jalandhar. Her daughter Saanvi Mahajan is a class six student at Apeejay School Model Town. In a candid interview, she shares how online classes have made her daughter more disciplined, the contribution of the teachers during the critical time of the pandemic and the school’s unique way of educating students. Edited excerpts:

Why did you choose Apeejay Model Town over other schools for your child’s admission?

Apeejay Model Town has been one of the most renowned schools in our district for numerous decades. It is really way ahead when compared to other educational institutes of our area. Apeejay School, Model Town, provides the children with a platform to grow, where they learn with joy and implement the learning effectively in their lives.

Please tell us a bit about your child and take us through her progress at school?

My daughter Saanvi started her journey with Apeejay Model Town from class 2. She is a creative minded child who likes to do aerobics, creative arts, making and editing videos. Among her favourite subjects are Science and Mathematics. She is fond of skating as sport and she really loves to dance.

She is performing very well at school. She is excellent in academics. She also loves extra-curricular competitions and always participates in almost every competition, morning assembly, declamation contest, annual function and other events.

At Apeejay Model Town, she is learning and evolving every day which in turn is enhancing her knowledge and grooming her personality.

Are the teachers engaging well with the students?

Without a doubt the teachers are engaging very well with students.  The teachers are putting in their best efforts even in this critical time of the pandemic.  As parents we are all facing challenges in the studies of our kids especially in such a time. So, I would say that the teachers at Apeejay Model Town are the guiding light for not only are they making our children study but they are also enabling them to use that learning effectively in a practical manner. All the teachers are so supportive that we as a parents are never worried about anything. They are always there to support, guide and even counsel the students if need be. I feel blessed that my child is getting groomed by them.

What is the best thing about the school?

The best thing which I actually love about the school is that they focus on a child’s holistic development. In the present scenario, a student must not only be good at academics. A student also needs to be good in communication skills, sports etc. One must be ready to take risks in life. Apeejay School Model Town prepares a child for life’s upcoming hurdles and struggles. They make sure that each and every child passes with flying colours in life.

What is your perception about the online classes?

Apeejay School, Model Town, has shown a divergent study pattern in online classes wherein the students are made to study very systematically. The Moodle software is very user-friendly and is one of the best application for students, teachers as well as parents. I would say that the online classes have made my child more disciplined.  The best thing she has learnt through the online classes is time-management. She now utilises and divides her time in an optimal way. I am very happy with that.
