A structured approach to discipline and leadership was visible at Apeejay School, Model Town, as 35 NCC cadets took part in an introductory firing session. The session was conducted by officers from the 2 Punjab Battalion NCC. It marked an important step in preparing students for their upcoming practical training.
The programme focused on the basics of rifle handling and safety. Officers demonstrated how to hold the rifle correctly, maintain balance, and focus on target aiming. Cadets observed closely as the demonstration highlighted the importance of body posture and control during firing practice. The session also emphasised discipline and responsibility, which form the foundation of NCC training.

For many cadets, this was their first direct exposure to practical aspects of firing. The structured guidance helped them understand not just the technical side, but also the mental focus required.
By observing trained officers, students gained clarity on the precision and patience needed in such activities. The session also created a space for students to ask questions and clear their doubts, making the learning process more interactive and grounded in real understanding.
The experience also played a role in building confidence among the cadets. Engaging in a controlled and guided environment allowed them to approach the upcoming practice session with better preparedness. It also reinforced values such as alertness, self-control, and teamwork.

This introductory session reflects the school’s continued focus on holistic development through NCC activities. By combining discipline with hands-on learning, the initiative supports students in developing leadership qualities.
As the cadets prepare for their firing practice next week, the experience is expected to strengthen their confidence and sense of responsibility in the long run, while also helping them develop a more focused and composed approach to future challenges.
