NEET UG 2024: Guide to seamless application and registration process
Published
2 months agoon
On February 9, 2024, the National Testing Agency (NTA) initiated the online registration process for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024. This key step marks the commencement of the application phase for candidates aspiring to undertake medical and dental undergraduate courses, specifically Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programs.
The exam is slated for May 5, 2024. Prospective participants can access the application portal at neet.ntaonline.in, where they will be required to utilise a system-generated application number and a previously set password to complete their application forms. This process encompasses the entry of personal information, selection of the preferred language for the question paper, choice of examination cities, educational qualification details, and the uploading of requisite documents and images.
How to upload photos and documents?
Applicants are mandated to upload digital scans of a recent passport-sized photograph, a larger postcard-sized photograph, their signature, imprints of the left and right-hand fingers and thumb, a citizenship certificate if applicable, and a certificate of disability, also known as PwBD certificate, where necessary.
Detailed guidelines for uploading these documents include ensuring that the photograph, whether in color or black and white, prominently displays 80% of the face, ears included, against a white backdrop without a mask. All scanned items must be in JPG format to ensure clarity. The dimensions and file size for each document type have been precisely stipulated, ranging from 10 kb to 200 kb for photographs and 4 kb to 30 kb for signatures. The guidelines further specify the acceptable size range for the disability certificate between 50 kb to 300 kb.
Clarity must
The NEET UG 2024 information bulletin emphasises the importance of clarity in the uploaded photographs and signatures. An unclear or unrecognisable photograph or signature may lead to the rejection of the application without the possibility of later corrections. The accuracy of the thumb impressions and certificates is equally crucial, as no amendments will be allowed post-submission. Misrepresentation or falsification of any document will be strictly dealt with under the provisions for Unfair Means (UFM).
Candidates are advised to keep multiple copies of their passport-sized and postcard-sized photographs ready for use throughout the application process, exam, and subsequent counseling or admission stages to maintain consistency across all documents related to NEET UG 2024.
How to register?
To register, applicants should visit neet.ntaonline.in and follow the registration link on the homepage. The process involves filling out the application form with requisite details, uploading necessary documents, and completing the payment of the application fee via online modes such as net banking, credit cards, debit cards, UPI, or Paytm Services. Successful payment is confirmed by the generation of a confirmation page, which should be downloaded and saved for future reference. In case of payment issues, applicants are directed to contact their bank or payment gateway for resolution or refund.
Meanwhile, the NTA has expanded its global reach by adding 14 exam centres in foreign cities including Kuwait City, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Colombo, Doha, Kathmandu, Kuala Lumpur, Lagos, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, and Singapore. This expansion caters to international candidates and those residing abroad, providing them with the opportunity to participate in NEET UG 2024 without the need to travel to India. Candidates who had previously selected an Indian centre but wish to change to an international location can do so during the designated correction window, albeit with a requisite fee adjustment for the change.
