Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, successfully conducted a fire evacuation drill. The drill aimed to strengthen emergency preparedness among students and staff. This initiative reflects Apeejay School’s ongoing commitment to safety and readiness in unforeseen situations.
As part of the drill, students were briefed on safe evacuation procedures, the identification of designated assembly points, and the importance of remaining calm during emergencies. To supplement the practical exercise, the school also conducted a video presentation and a live demonstration on the correct use of fire extinguishers. Through these activities, students gained a clear, hands-on understanding of emergency response techniques.
During the drill, students learned essential safety skills, including how to operate fire extinguishers, switch on fire alarms, assist others in evacuation, and administer basic first aid in emergency situations. Throughout the exercise, participants were clearly instructed not to panic, push, or overtake one another, and to follow their teachers’ directions at all times. The drill proceeded in an orderly and disciplined manner.

The evacuation plan and overall coordination of the drill were carried out under the guidance of Vice Principal Ms Loveleen Bagga, with active support from the school’s Youth Club. The Youth Club played a key role in organising and executing the drill efficiently. The club members helped ensure smooth participation of students across all classes and contributed to the overall success of the exercise.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Mr AK Sharma highlighted the importance of conducting regular safety drills in ensuring preparedness and safeguarding lives. He emphasised that consistent practice of such drills equips students and staff with the ability to respond swiftly and effectively during real emergencies, reducing panic and confusion when it matters most.

The fire evacuation drill served as a valuable reminder of the importance of emergency preparedness in schools. Learners are now equipped with practical life skills that extend well beyond the classroom. Through such initiatives, Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, continues to prioritise the safety and well-being of its school community, ensuring that both students and staff remain confident and capable of handling emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
The successful execution of the drill reflects the collaborative effort of the school’s leadership, teaching staff, and student volunteers.
