My journey as a teacher on teacher’s day

Teachers are true magicians because they turn miracles into reality. All students eagerly wait for this day, and I am no exception. I have been quite enthusiastic to wish my mentors a Happy Teacher’s Day. Their motivation always works wonders for me.

But this Teacher’s Day turned out to be special. We were assigned the duty of being a teacher. We were to dress up formally like them and take classes. I was initially anxious as I had these thoughts: ‘Will I be able to handle the class as effectively and efficiently as my role models, my teachers do? Will I be able to make my lectures as interesting as my teachers do?’

These thoughts initiated the realisation that being a teacher is not everyone’s cup of tea. When you are a student and their mate, it seems even more challenging. However, upon entering the class, all anxiety disappeared when students welcomed me with a smile. I took on the role of a math teacher. The students I taught were a mixed lot. Some of them were naughty and made it difficult for me to teach them basic mathematics, making it challenging. Although I tried to keep everything easy and kept my teaching interactive, as my teachers do, it was not a piece of cake. In fact, it was a tightrope walk. The questions they asked me left me wonderstruck at their knowledge and the level of preparation a teacher needs to teach their class effectively.

This created an even more special place for my teachers in my heart. Now, I respect them even more. In short, it was an experience to cherish for a lifetime.
