Leading the Way: My Journey from an Average Student to a Published Author

For most of my school life, I considered myself an average student. During my years at Shanti Gyan Niketan School, I never imagined that one day I would become a published author or contribute to academic research. Like many students, I was focused on learning, participating in activities, and trying to understand where my strengths truly lay.

As I continued my education at Mount Saint Girija School, I gradually became more confident and focused. However, the most significant turning point in my academic journey came when I joined Apeejay Stya University.

Apeejay Stya University provided me with opportunities that extended beyond textbooks and classrooms. It introduced me to research, critical thinking, academic writing, and the idea that students can contribute meaningful knowledge to society. One of the people who played a crucial role in this transformation was Dr. Akanchha Singh Ma’am, whose encouragement motivated me to take my first step into research. I am equally grateful to Neha Thakur Ma’am for her support and guidance throughout this journey.

Today, I am proud to share that my book chapter, “Leading the Way: Inclusive Leadership and Transgender Employee Empowerment,” has been published in the edited volume “Transgender and Inclusivity in Society: Opportunities and Challenges (Volume 6, 2026)” by Iterative International Publishers (IIP Series).

The chapter explores how inclusive leadership can help create workplaces where transgender employees are treated with dignity, respect, and equal opportunity. It highlights the role leaders play in building inclusive organizational cultures and demonstrates how diversity and belonging contribute not only to employee well-being but also to organizational success. Through this research, I learned that leadership is not simply about managing people—it is about creating opportunities, empowering individuals, and ensuring that everyone feels valued.

This publication represents much more than an academic achievement. It reflects the power of curiosity, learning, and the willingness to step outside one’s comfort zone. Research taught me that meaningful change begins with asking questions and seeking solutions to real-world challenges.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my parents for their constant support and sacrifices. A special thanks to Manya Arora, whose unwavering belief, encouragement, and guidance have been a source of strength throughout my academic and professional journey. I am also thankful to Jyoti Kumari for her support and positivity.

Today, as an M.Com student at the University of Delhi, an ACCA aspirant, an Accounts Executive, a researcher, and a published author, I continue to believe that learning never stops.

My message to every student is simple: never underestimate yourself. You do not need to be extraordinary from the beginning. With the right guidance, consistent effort, and a willingness to learn, even the most ordinary student can achieve extraordinary milestones.
