‘Experienced teachers make this school truly special’

Choosing this school came naturally to these parents; they are both Apeejayites. Hence, when it was time to send their daughter to school, they didn’t look beyond Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg. Even when the family went to Canada for a year, they came back and enrolled their daughter in the same school. Meet Esha Sahni, whose daughter, Amaira, is now in Class XI (Commerce with Math).

In a candid interview, the mother shares how she and her husband (Nitin Sahni) want their daughter to carry the values they learnt in school forward.

What differences have you noticed between your time and Amaira’s experience today?

I do not feel that the school has changed much in terms of the quality of its teachers. The school has always had experienced and cooperative teachers who give children good exposure. This is something I particularly value about the school.

How are the teachers preparing your daughter for Class XII and the Boards?

The teachers are doing a great job and putting in considerable effort to ensure that the students understand their subjects and achieve good marks. They are always available to guide the children, and the students are receptive to their teaching and support.

What changes have you noticed in her since she joined the school?

She has become more confident and actively participates in co-curricular activities. She is also good at studies and consistently scores above 90 per cent, sometimes 92 per cent, and sometimes 95 per cent. What makes me especially proud is that every teacher knows who my daughter is. She has created an identity for herself at the school.

Which activities does she enjoy the most?

She is good at dancing and loves to dance. She also enjoys cooking. Whenever there is a dance or cooking competition, she is always ready to participate. She also motivates others to take part. The teachers motivate her to participate in different activities. They know that she is sincere and willing to put in the required effort. They guide her well so that she can present herself confidently in competitions.

How has the school contributed to her personal growth?

She has grown beautifully over the years. Communication skills are very important, and participating in different activities has helped her improve in this area. Her overall growth has been very good, and I am extremely satisfied. She plans to expand the business through exports, which is one area where we are currently lacking. She wants to take the business overseas.

What makes Apeejay the right school for your daughter?

Amaira was a slightly shy child when she was in KG I. Every teacher, right from KG I, has put in considerable effort to help her. I still remember a teacher who taught her in KG. I will never forget her because she was an important role model for my daughter. Over the years, her class teachers came to know and understand her, and she gradually grew into a confident child.

Is there a lesson you learnt that you want your daughter to learn as well?

I learnt to be obedient during my years at Apeejay School. I was an obedient child, and I have always taught my daughter to be obedient, responsible and respectful towards elders. I remember an incident during an assembly when she was scolded even though it was not her fault. She did not argue. She bowed her head and listened respectfully. That is what we have taught her: not to argue with elders, to remain obedient and to act responsibly. These are the values we learnt and have passed on to her.
