Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus in Jalandhar recently organised a felicitation ceremony for teachers. The aim of this event was to celebrate the unique contribution of the finest teachers in the Punjab region, and to honour their commitment in sharing knowledge that has not only improved the quality of education, but also enriched the lives of their students.

Apeejay Education Society’s vision is ‘man-making’ and ‘nation-building’ and educators at Apeejay institutions have been committed to this duty. The institutes spread across India often organise various activities and events to bring educators to a common platform and hold discussions on pertinent topics concerning the education sector. Such topics include implementation of NEP 2020, imparting interdisciplinary education under the leadership of Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairperson, Apeejay Education Society and Chancellor Apeejay Stya University. This felicitation ceremony was one such event.

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director at AIMETC, in his address to the gathering, discussed how implementing the recommendations made in NEP can help students become competent to fulfill their career aspirations. “It is the responsibility of education institutes to inculcate young minds with human values, discipline, dedication, and civic sense. When we educate a child the right way, we educate the entire state, and that’s a step towards change.”

Dr. Baggas’s address was followed by a video featuring Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia’s life journey and achievements.

“The take away for me from the event is that one can achieve anything, if one commits himself/herself to it. I think these words of Madam Sushma Paul Berlia, have become one of my life mantras,” expressed one of the teachers.

The discussion concluded on the note that it is imperative that teachers be role models, and at the same time, their views and opinions be taken into consideration while forming educational practices and strategies.

All the teachers were felicitated with certificates and an award as a token of appreciation for their contribution. Dr. Rajneesh Arya, Dean of School of Management at AIMET presented a vote of thanks to all the present dignitaries. The event ended with singing of the National Anthem followed by high-tea for all the honourable teachers.
