The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) through its Board of Studies (Academic) has developed a new and normalised curriculum in a step towards standardising commerce and accounting education at higher secondary and undergraduate levels of schools/colleges/universities across India.

The curriculum which is yet awaiting government approval was developed to ensure that CA students can become global professionals in the future. It was put forth at the National Education Summit on Commerce and Accountancy which is being organised by ICAI on January 6 and 7.

The new commerce syllabus has been developed in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020 and lays emphasis on conceptual application rather than rote learning, the use of technology, and the consideration of ethics.

To this end, ICAI has partnered with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) for a two-day event.
