Arijit RoyAnamica is a Marketing Associate at HiCounselor, a leading career accelerator company. She is an alumna of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, where pursued her Bachelors in Economics. She then went on to complete her MBA from Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar. In an engaging interview, the marketing expert explains what led her to choose this profession as her career path. Read edited excerpts:
We are interested to know about your work profile? Tell us about it?
My responsibilities as a marketing associate include brainstorming ideas for social media posts in my company. In addition, I am in charge of representing my company when partnering with potential businesses that would benefit the company’s growth. I also accompany my company’s events on LinkedIn, such as job fairs and live projects. Since my company is a startup, my tasks often change based on priority and other requirements at the time.
What inspired you to join this field?
Marketing was something I was always interested in, whether it was watching some television commercial or reading the instructions or information about products on the packaging. Later, when I was studying pursuing my MBA, I always knew that if I got a job, marketing would be the field I would like to explore and gain experience in.
You mentioned you had a great time at ACFA. Tell us about the best memories from there?
I wasn’t sure where I should go for my graduation. But then I heard about this college from a friend and I ended up going there. I believe I made the correct decision. Everything was good there including the crowd and the friends I made there. The teachers were always pleasant and the facilities were excellent. My favorite memory would be when I was in a sports event and my friends and I participated in the tug of war event. We all had so much fun and eventually even won that game. So that would be the best memory. Also, everything from spending time with my friends to interacting with teachers to becoming the class representative was all a good memory for me.
One life lesson for the current students?
Just have fun and think about what you want to do next. Plan everything and stick to it. You will one day be grateful for all of your efforts. Don’t forget to enjoy every moment, especially your school and college years. These are your golden years, so cherish them. This may sound cliche but these are the things that will matter when you reach a certain age and begin to reflect on all of your wonderful memories and feel good about them.
You work from home. Tell us the advantages and disadvantages?
So the benefits of working from home for me are that I get to spend time with my family and eat good home-cooked meals every day. I also assist my mother with household chores. Disadvantages for me include being lazy at times and not socialising with as many people as I used to. Apart from that, everything is favorable to me while working from home.
Finally, where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I don’t think about the future very often. I do plan things but they aren’t that far in the future. But when I think about where I want to be in the next five years, I’d like to gain more experience and improve my marketing skills. I hope to live my life to the fullest and manage my own team in some good company. I also hope I will be proud of myself for progressing this far in my career.
