Reputed schools often provide better opportunities for extracurricular activities, sports, and exposure to various fields. Many parents believe that reputed schools maintain a higher level of discipline and instill good values in their students. They want their children to learn not only from textbooks but also from the overall environment and ethos of the school.
A good school typically offers a higher quality of education. It has well-qualified and experienced teachers, a robust curriculum, and modern teaching methods that foster better learning outcomes for students. This lays a strong foundation for their academic and personal growth.
Hence, for a father like Javed Iqbal, who works with an MNC, choosing the perfect school for his daughter, Izza (now in class I), was important. “I had heard good things about the Apeejay’s curriculum. When it was time for my daughter to start her formal education, I went with Apeejay School, Saket,” Iqbal said.
Excerpts from an interview.
How and why did you choose Apeejay?
As I mentioned, the curriculum of Apeejay impressed me. I had looked at other schools as well. However, I found that the best learning schedule was at this school. It made sense to choose Apeejay School.
How are the teachers?
All her teachers are good. Her class teacher, Rachana ma’am, is very supportive. I am sure when I raise the English-speaking concern, she will take action on it at the earliest. This is my daughter’s first school and the entire administration has been good, she joined the school in the nursery.
Does your daughter participate in co-curricular activities?
Yes, she does. Last year, when the carnival was organised she participated in the dance. From time to time, whatever activities the school organises, she is part of it.
What about the parent-teacher meetings?
They are held regularly. The same was true last year as well. The teachers give good feedback about my daughter as well.
How does a balance of academics and extracurricular activities impact the child?
Today, just being studious will not help. Kids need overall development. Having a mix of academics and activities will help the child as he/she grows up in ensuring that the fundamentals are right. The stronger these are, the easier it will become for the child when he/she starts their professional journey.
How has your daughter’s learning curve been?
She is doing well in all the subjects. When she was in KG, she could spell small words in the English language. However, I feel that her English speaking skills have gone down a bit. I plan to raise this issue at the next parent-teacher meeting. Otherwise, I have no complaints about other subjects. I believe that in English class children should be encouraged to speak in English only. Otherwise, they will never pick up the language.
Would you recommend this school?
Yes, definitely. Everything at this school is good. From teachers to staff members to the activities and study plan. If the school had not had these things, I wouldn’t have chosen it in the first place.
