Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, recently organised a workshop on career in aviation for students in classes XI and XII. The workshop aimed to introduce them to the exciting world of aviation, with Captain Jai Singh Sadana and Captain Anushree Verma, a school alumna, leading the session.

Apeejay Panchsheel Park teacher Ritu Sharma, who coordinated for the event, said, “It was a moment of immense pride and joy to see our illustrious alumna, Anushree Verma, sharing her valuable insights with students and inspiring them to explore a career in aviation.”

During the engaging workshop, the captains emphasised that a career in aviation is not limited to students pursuing Science subjects. Even Humanities and Commerce students can venture into this field by studying Physics and Mathematics through an Open school programme while simultaneously undergoing aviation training. Following a rigorous 18-month training period, candidates become eligible to obtain a commercial license.

“Being a Humanities student myself, it was reassuring to know that even I can pursue a career as a pilot, which is a very respectable job,” said Mugdha Chauhan, a class XII student, who attended the workshop. “We got a thorough understanding of a pilot’s career path and what we need to do to pursue the profession.”

The students were enlightened about the numerous advantages and perks associated with being a pilot. Apart from working limited hours and earning a respectable income, pilots also shoulder the immense responsibility of ensuring the safety of nearly 200 lives onboard. The journey of becoming a pilot instills valuable qualities such as discipline, punctuality, and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Pilot training, however, is expensive. To meet the expenses of pilot training, students can opt for an education loan, which can be easily repaid once they secure employment in the aviation industry.

The students learnt that a career as a pilot not only provides a comfortable lifestyle but also offers a platform for personal growth and a well-groomed personality. The lucrative prospects in this career and the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of many are what make aviation attractive to many.

The workshop was successful in igniting in students a desire to explore the career. The demand for pilots continues to rise globally to meet the demands of air travel. And the expansion of the aviation industry and the emergence of new airlines is sure to create more opportunities for enthusiasts.
