If one thinks of the noblest profession in the world, several answers might come up. Some would say, it is a doctor, some would say it is an engineer. But I would say it is a teacher, because a teacher creates all other professions by educating about them. It is thus essential to honour the godly figures who shape us to in turn shape our future.

Apeejay School, Model Town understands the value of teachers and the school recently celebrated teacher’s day in some style. The day started with a special assembly wherein Principal, Mr. Malkiat Singh, ushered a heartfelt floral tribute to the great educator Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

The Principal then addressed the students and reminded them of the great contribution of teachers in a person’s lives. He also spoke about the importance of education that shapes the society around and urged all students to make the most of their student years by focussing on educating themselves in a holistic manner.

Students were then assigned roles of different teachers in the school and the students accompanied their teachers to their classes in a fun role play celebration. The ‘pupil’ teachers conducted all the classes in the presence of teachers. The students and teachers both enjoyed the hilarious impersonification but the students also understood the challenging job of an educator.

Student Hargun Singh Bajwa represented Baljeet sir. Speaking of this activity he said, “It was a very new experience. I realised that teaching students is not an easy task and requires immense practice, and experience. I would like to thank all my teachers for teaching me.”

Kangna Vig, class 9 student mentioned, “Today was the best experience of my life. I got the chance to play one of my favourite teachers, Maninder ma’am. At first it was very tough for me to handle the mischievous students but with the grace of God and with the motivation of Maninder ma’am, I managed to handle them very gracefully. This activity built a lot of confidence in me. I am much influenced by the way Maninder ma’am teaches, so I too taught the students in that way only.”

Another student Bhavleen Kaur stated, “Today I enacted our respected Headmistress Ms.Namrata Sharma. I taught classes 7-8 and it was a good but a very tiring experience. I came to understand how a teacher teaches naughty students like us. It was the first time that our school organised such a thing. It was really helpful for us as we understood the worth of teachers and hard work done by them.”

Sumedha from class 8 had a delightful time. She said, “Role playing as a teacher is like stepping into a whole new world! It really was such a fun and immersive experience that allowed me to feel the excitement and fulfilment that comes along with being a teacher. I got to interact with the students and experience the joy of seeing them learn and grow. Enacting Ms Nidhi Ghai ma’am (Head Mistress, Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld) gave me an idea of what it’s like to make a positive impact on students’ lives.

Bhavya Panchal from class 9-B expressed, “This teacher’s day, I had the unique opportunity to step into the shoes of Ms. Sonali Pusri who taught me during LKG. Since I had to dress like a teacher, I wore my kurta and tried to mimic the style of teachers I saw at my school. I got to spend the day teaching kids and assisting Ms Sonali and I must say it was so fun interacting especially with little kids. The experience was incredibly pleasing and entertaining. I even formed a few friendships with some students. At the end of the school day, Ms Sonali rewarded me with a chocolate for helping her. Overall, the day was a success and really enjoyable.”
