Donating to the underprivileged is crucial for fostering positive societal change as it addresses the immediate needs of the communities, and helps break the cycle of poverty. By providing essential resources such as food and clothes, healthcare, as well as education, to the needy, it offers them hope and happiness. Furthermore, donations play a vital role in promoting social equality and inclusivity, bridging the gap between privilege and disadvantage.

Recognising the profound impact of such actions, the Interact Club of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park set a remarkable example of compassion and selflessness through their initiative, ‘Project Ann Daan’. This charitable project aimed to provide food to the underprivileged. The club collaborated with Smile Foundation and visited a slum located in Dhaula Kuan to distribute dry ration to the children in need.

With the firm belief that love and charity go hand in hand, the Interact Club embarked on this project to extend a helping hand to those less fortunate. Understanding that the intention behind giving is more significant than the amount of material possessions, the club members were determined to make a difference by bringing smiles to the faces of the impoverished.

The project began with the students and staff of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park contributing towards the cause by donating raw food items. The response was overwhelming as the school community displayed immense generosity and empathy. Students and staff members enthusiastically donated a substantial amount of 220 kilograms of essential food items including wheat, rice, pulses, salt, sugar, and more.

Armed with the collected donations, the Interact club members along with Smile Foundation visited the slum, envisioning  to make a significant impact on the lives of these vulnerable children.

Upon reaching the slum, all the members were greeted with the heart-warming sight of eager children awaiting their arrival. All the members distributed the dry ration to the children, and the smiles that radiated from the faces of the recipients were a testament to the success of this noble endeavour. It was a heart-warming moment as the children expressed their gratitude and appreciation, acknowledging the positive impact that Project Ann Daan has made in their lives.

Project Ann Daan exemplified the true spirit of love and charity. It showcased the power of collective effort, empathy, and selflessness in transforming lives. The Interact Club of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, along with Smile Foundation, succeeded in spreading happiness and nourishment to the underprivileged children, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.

While expressing her views, Moumita Mallik Sen, Interact Club Teacher Incharge said, “The mission of our club is to touch the lives of  innumerable people and transform them in the best way possible. Project Ann Daan was able to bring smiles and glee not only on the  faces of the young children at the NGO but also contentment in the hearts of the interactors. Thus, it is rightly said that happiness is a two-way street which affects both the giver and the receiver.”
