Meet five girls and boys who have done their school – Apeejay School, Rama Mandi proud – Tejas Pal, Navjoy Singh Aujla, Jasmeet Kaur, Yash Aggarwal, and Ranbir Sodhi.

Speaking about his fantastic score of 96 per cent, Tejas said that he scored 98 in Social Science; 97 in Punjabi; 96 in Information Technology; 95 in Science; 93 in Math, and 94 in English. His secret for success? “To be honest, I didn’t do well in my first pre-Boards. That was a wake-up call for me. I then decided to read word for word from my NCERT books. I must have read them four to five times and by the end of January, I was well-prepared,” the student who is now in class XI said and is pursuing Science (non-medical).

“My teachers were there at each step. They provided us with different assignments and previous year’s papers. The second pre-Board was also tough, but it helped me gain good speed for the final exams. All through my parents supported me. Whether I was at my lowest or my best, they remained the same. They are happy with how I’m progressing,” Tejas said.

His strategy on the day of the exam changed after he gave his English paper where he wasn’t able to manage his time properly. “I wasted too much time on reading comprehension because the paper was very lengthy. After that, for all other exams, I tackled the MCQs, long-answer questions first, and the rest flowed,” Tejas explained.

Navjot, who scored an aggregate of 94.4 per cent, said that he was expecting a good result since he had studied hard for the Boards. “I scored 97 in Math, 94 in Punjabi, 91 in English, 95 in Social Science, 95 in Information Technology, and 82 in Science. I attribute my success to self-study and focus,” the student, who has chosen Science (Non-medical) in class XI, shared.

He added that no success is possible without the teachers’ guidance. “Their mentoring was crucial. The teachers always motivated me and were there to clear any doubts I had. My parents too had a big role in guiding me and keeping my anxiety at bay,” Navjot said and shared his study strategy.

“I didn’t do anything special, just normal self-study for about three to four hours daily. When I came to class X, I took the first few months easy. I picked up speed in September-October just before the first pre-Boards. That is when I seriously started studying,” he recounted.

Jasmeet, who scored an aggregate of 93.6 per cent, also had an impressive score in all her subjects. She scored 99 in Social Science; 96 in English; 94 in Information Technology, and 90 in Science.

Yash, who scored an aggregate of 91.8 per cent, shared that he is happy with his result. “I scored 96 in English; 98 in Hindi; 93 in Math; 89 in Science, 92 in Information Technology, and 88 in Social Science. I have to thank my teachers for their support and guidance. They were incredibly helpful, providing extra questions and clarifying all my doubts,” the student who has taken up Science (Non-medical) in class XI, said.

Since this was the first time that Yash was taking the Board exams, his parents were a pillar of strength. “They encouraged me to study hard and provided a conducive environment for my studies,” he said and added that it is important to study consistently throughout the year, at least two to three hours daily.

“I also took guidance from my mother on how to study effectively. I also ensured that I took ample breaks by going out and playing daily. A day before the exam, I relaxed. I also took advantage of the gaps between each exam. For example, if we had a gap of four days, I studied for three days; on the last day I relaxed and went out to play as well,” Yash recalled.

Ranbir, who scored an aggregate of 90 per cent, also brought accolades to his school. He scored 93 in English;  92 in Math, and 90 in Social Science.
