In a heartwarming display of confidence and self-expression, the students of Class I at Apeejay School, Model Town, participated in a speaking activity titled ‘All About Myself’. The event aimed to offer students a platform to introduce themselves and express who they are in their words.

Creating a nurturing and welcoming space, the school ensured that every student felt comfortable speaking in front of their classmates and teachers. This approach helped the children overcome the initial hesitation often associated with public speaking at a young age.

Learning through expression

The objective of the activity was clear: To help students build their confidence in speaking English fluently while using simple sentence structures. Each child was encouraged to talk about themselves — their name, age, family members, hobbies, favourite colour, food, and more. These basic yet essential details helped them form simple but meaningful sentences in English.

By connecting spoken language with real-life experiences, the activity supported the students in making learning personal and relatable. It also gave teachers valuable insight into each child’s personality, interests, and comfort with spoken English.

Confidence in every word

The children spoke with enthusiasm, and their cheerful expressions reflected their excitement. Some shared their love for drawing, dancing, or singing, while others proudly talked about their pets and best friends. It was heartening to see the young learners take initiative and speak with such pride and joy.

Many students showcased creativity in the way they presented themselves. Some used visual aids like small charts or pictures to make their introduction more interesting. This boosted their confidence and helped them stay engaged throughout the activity.

A step forward in language development

The speaking activity proved to be more than just an introduction exercise. It became a stepping stone in the language development journey of Class I students. Through this activity, the school reinforced the importance of early exposure to spoken English in a fun, interactive, and pressure-free setting.

Teachers praised the students for their effort and commended them for taking part actively. They also noted the improvement in students’ willingness to communicate in English.

The event successfully met its learning goals — to foster a love for speaking, build language skills, and boost confidence. With such meaningful initiatives, Apeejay School, Model Town continues to shape confident and expressive young learners.
