BEYOND LOGOS AND TAGLINES: THE HUMAN SIDE OF BRANDING

What makes a brand unforgettable? Is it the logo we instantly recognize, the catchy jingle we can’t stop singing, or the emotions it stirs within us? These were the thoughts that surfaced as I listened to Mr. Shantomoy Roy, Founder and Director of K Factor Communications, during his captivating lecture at our college.

He brought an energy that made ‘advertising’ feel like more than just selling a product – it felt like a calling. His journey to become an accomplished entrepreneur became the backbone of an unforgettable session on brand building. What stuck with me most was that his talk wasn’t just about advertising or brand building – it was about meaningful stories.

Mr. Roy reminded us that behind every successful brand lies discipline, vision and patience. The way he explained the difference between – important, urgent, immediate and SOS – offered a practical outlook for navigating both deadlines and personal life. As students, it was a reflection on how we rush through tasks, forgetting to ask ourselves what truly matters. It wasn’t just advice for the media world ; it was advice for living with clarity.

His mantra for success was refreshingly relatable – stay curious, research thoroughly, maintain discipline, harness passion, cherish humility and above all, be fearless. In an industry that often celebrates noise and visibility, his insistence on staying grounded felt exhilarating. At the same time, curiosity reminded me that every idea begins with a question and echoes the courage for chasing opportunities without hesitation.

The mark of a truly unforgettable teacher is not just what they teach – but how they model it. In the same way he described how brands are woven from stories, Mr. Roy’s own narrative was woven before us; each lesson he shared threw light on the chapters of his past, his challenges and his vision. As I walked away from the lecture, one important thought lingered – brand building isn’t limited to companies ; it’s equally about building and presenting ourselves. In branding and in life – it’s courage, clarity and kindness that leave the greatest impression.
