Dr. Meetu Juneja, did her PhD in paintings and taught at various colleges for some time before taking a break. Her spouse, Manik Juneja, is Director – Content & Production at MBD Group, a leading publishing house. They are proud parents of Hunar Juneja and Geetaansh Juneja. The former is in class 5 and the latter is in class 8 of Apeejay School Faridabad. In an informal chat, Dr. Meetu takes us through the reasons for picking Apeejay, the emphasis given by the school on the holistic development of children, the teachers’ commitment to quality education, and more. Edited Excerpts:

What was the reason behind picking Apeejay?

My husband is an alumnus of Apeejay School Faridabad, so we had deep knowledge about every aspect of the school. We knew that it offered an excellent academic and non-academic environment. Unlike other parents, we didn’t have to brainstorm while picking the best school for Geetaansh. Apeejay was our first and only choice. The icing on the cake was that the school is a stone’s throw away from our house.

Share with us the progress you have seen in your children since joining the school.

I have seen tremendous improvement in my children over the years. The USP of Apeejay is that it gives adequate attention to the all-round development of students through extracurricular activities. It conducts regular school and inter-school competitions to enhance your child’s school experience and help them build critical life skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving skills, resilience, social and emotional intelligence, etc. My daughter is the Vice-Head Girl of school. She is confident and a good orator, and is actively involved in sports. In fact, prior to Covid, she used to play Lawn Tennis. Talking about Geetaansh, he too has made rapid progress and has been recently awarded with ‘Super Scholars’ badge for being excellent in academics.

Are you satisfied with the teachers?

I am satisfied with the hard work put in by Apeejay teachers, especially during the pandemic. Do keep in mind that shifting to online teaching and keeping the flame of academics burning was easier said than done. However, this was made possible as teachers, students and parents worked as a team in the face of pandemic. We had to quickly adapt to the new medium while ensuring zero learning loss among students. Thankfully, there were no hiccups. The syllabus was completed on time and the routine tests were held as per schedule. Lastly, I want to point out that during online classes teachers ensure that cameras of all students are turned on, and if for some reason they’re not, parents would be informed immediately about the same. Teachers also take the feedback of parents quite seriously.

Share with us your most memorable moment.

There are so many, it’s difficult to pick one. Every moment of our journey with Apeejay is memorable. However, if I had to pick one, I would say it was when Geetaansh won an inter-school competition on ‘Science projects’ in class 5. Winning that completion was extremely tough as there were participants from so many schools.
