Apeejay Stya University, Gurgaon launches “Drug-Free India” Campaign 

The campaign aims at spreading awareness among students and staff to promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle

Apeejay Stya University (ASU) recently organised a powerful “Drug-Free India” campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to spread awareness among students and staff about the dangers of drug abuse and to promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Vir Singh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University, addressed the gathering, urging all students and staff never to indulge in drugs and to contribute towards building a healthy, educated, and developed India.

The programme commenced with the Pledge for No Drug Use, administered by Dr. Pardeep Kumar, Registrar of the University. This was followed by the “Walk Against Drugs” where participants enthusiastically marched across the campus holding banners and raising slogans  for a drug-free society.

The campaign witnessed active participation from all students and staff of the University, who took the pledge together and joined the walk in a spirited display of commitment. Senior faculty members, including Prof. Moinuddin, Prof. Ananda Padhan, and Prof. Amit Sinha, were also present and extended their support to the cause.

The “Walk Against Drugs”,  was coordinated by Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Sports Officer, ASU. The event was coordinated by Dr. Vijay Kumar, Coordinator – Community Services Cell, and Member Secretary of University’s Anti-Drug Committee. The programme was convened by Prof. Sanjay Ahirwal, Dean Student Welfare, as well as Chairman of the Anti-Drug Committee.

Sharing his thoughts, Dr. Vijay Kumar, Coordinator – Community Services Cell, mentioned, “Drug addiction harms not only the individual but also shatters families and disrupts society, as its consequences inevitably affect everyone connected.”

The programme was organised by the Community Services Cell, ASU in collaboration with the University’s Anti-Drug Committee (Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Committee). The event concluded with the message that a drug-free youth is the foundation of a progressive nation.
