Reinforcing the importance of physical well-being, teamwork, and student engagement, the Sports Committee of Apeejay School of Management (ASM), New Delhi, organised “Smash & Strike – Table Tennis x Carrom Board Showdown”  in the College Sports and Activity Hall. The vibrant sporting event brought together students from different batches for an afternoon filled with friendly competition, strategic gameplay, and spirited interactions, reflecting the institute’s commitment to holistic student development.

Coordinated by Dr. Amitabh Mishra and Dr. Shubhra Bahal, with active support from student coordinators led by President Yatharth Nirwan, Vice Presidents Devanshu Tanwar and Shivam Joshi, and General Secretaries Aryan and Sapna, the event aimed to provide students with a refreshing break from academic schedules while promoting sportsmanship, focus, and collaboration.

The tournament featured two exciting indoor games—Table Tennis and Carrom—allowing students to test both their physical reflexes and strategic thinking. Open to boys and girls from all PGDBM batches, the event fostered an inclusive environment where students from diverse academic backgrounds interacted and competed in a spirit of mutual respect and healthy rivalry.

Participants registered individually and competed in knockout-format matches, creating an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation throughout the afternoon. Simultaneous Table Tennis rallies and Carrom contests kept the energy levels high as students displayed remarkable enthusiasm, concentration, and competitive spirit. The Sports and Activity Hall echoed with cheers and applause as participants encouraged one another and celebrated every impressive shot and well-planned move.

One highlight was the enthusiastic participation of faculty members, who joined students for a friendly Table Tennis match. Their involvement added a unique dimension to the programme, strengthening the bond between students and faculty while creating a lively and welcoming campus atmosphere. The seamless coordination by the organising committee ensured that registrations, match schedules, and event management proceeded smoothly, contributing to the programme’s overall success.

Beyond the competition’s excitement, “Smash & Strike” served as an important platform for experiential learning. The event encouraged students to embrace physical activity as a means of relieving academic stress while developing valuable life skills such as focus, discipline, hand-eye coordination, patience, and strategic decision-making. It also reinforced the values of teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship, and healthy competition—qualities equally important in professional and personal life.

The tournament further promoted meaningful interaction among students from different batches, helping them build friendships, expand their networks, and strengthen the sense of community within the institution. Such informal engagements contribute significantly to creating a collaborative and inclusive campus culture.

The event concluded with a prize distribution and felicitation ceremony, during which the faculty coordinators presented certificates of achievement, appreciation, and mementoes to the winners in recognition of their outstanding performances. The ceremony celebrated not only the champions but also the enthusiastic participation and sporting spirit displayed by all competitors.

With its perfect blend of recreation, competition, and camaraderie, “Smash & Strike – Table Tennis x Carrom Board Showdown” emerged as a resounding success. The event reaffirmed Apeejay School of Management’s commitment to fostering holistic development by encouraging students to balance academic excellence with active participation in co-curricular activities. The Sports Committee looks forward to organising many more such engaging initiatives that strengthen campus spirit and inspire students to lead healthy, balanced, and collaborative lives.
