Read edited excerpts:

Why did you choose AID? Which course are you pursuing?

I chose AID because it has global exposure, experiential learning for regular exposure in crafts and so on and I was looking for an environment where I could learn through practical experiences, experiments with ideas, and understanding different aspects of design. The teachers here are also very understanding and helpful which creates a stress-free and safe environment to work under. I’m currently pursuing Interior Design, where I’m learning how to create spaces that are visually appealing, functional, and comfortable.

What has been your learning so far at AID?

My learning so far has been about looking at things from a different perspective. I’m learning the importance of basic design principles like balance, proportion, composition, and different colour mediums. I’ve also realised that design is not just about making something look good, it’s about understanding the purpose behind every element and how everything works together to make it look balanced and make sense behind it.

How do teachers train and encourage you for your design career?

Our teachers encourage us to think creatively, experiment with different ideas, and develop our own design perspectives and qualities that make us unique from others. Through practical assignments, outdoor studies, feedback, and guidance, they help us understand our strengths and identify areas where we need improvement. They also encourage us to think beyond the obvious and approach problems with an open mind, which I believe is important for a career in design.

In addition to academics, any activities or clubs you are part of ? How are you building your skills through them?

I’m part of the Cultural Club and the Photography Club at AID. The Cultural Club helps me develop my confidence, teamwork, and communication skills by participating in events and collaborating with other students and faculties. The Photography Club allows me to explore composition, lighting, perspectives, and visual storytelling. Both clubs help me grow creatively and develop skills that are useful for my journey as a designer.

What is your future goal?

My future goal is to become a successful interior designer, who creates spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and meaningful. I want to develop my own design style, explore innovative ideas, and understand how spaces can influence people’s everyday lives. Eventually, I hope to work on projects that reflect my creativity while making a positive difference in people’s experiences and making their life easier.
