She is, at present, studying in Class V at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri. She has several hobbies that include drawing, crafting, and dancing. In other words, she enjoys doing creative things and trying something different. But her passion lies in writing stories because, through them, she shares her thoughts and ideas.
Meet Deep Aggrawal, whose story on kindness was recently published in Tumhare Mann Ki. Not only this, but she also won the first position in a GK quiz offered by the government for the students. Read her journey…

You have so many interests! How do you manage your studies alongside these activities?
I try to make time for both my studies and hobbies. I usually get about an hour to do the things I enjoy. I like spending that time drawing, crafting, or doing something creative. It makes me happy because I get to do something I really like.
How did you get interested in writing it?
I wanted to write a story on my own, so I thought of an idea and started working on it. I chose the topic myself because it was something I felt was important. My story was about a girl who was going to school when she found a purse. She took it home and told her mother about it. They looked for the owner’s details so they could return it. When they finally gave the purse back, the owner wanted to thank the girl by giving her a gift. However, she refused to accept it.
What inspired you to write a story about kindness?
I chose kindness because I wanted people to understand how important it is to help others. I noticed that people were not always kind to one another. I wanted to write something that would remind people to treat others nicely and help whenever they can. I felt that if someone read my story, they might also think about doing something kind for another person.
How does your school encourage your interest?
I like thinking of different ideas and turning them into stories. My school also encourages me to write about subjects that I find interesting. I get opportunities to explore my interests, and that motivates me to keep writing and trying new things.
You also secured first position in a GK quiz. Can you tell us about the competition?
I participated in a general knowledge quiz that was conducted through a newspaper. It was a national-level competition, and students from different schools could take part. The quiz was conducted online. There was a barcode that we had to scan to access the questions. After reading the questions, we had to select or type our answers and submit them digitally.

Who supports you in your studies, writing, and competitions?
My mother, Dr Hemlata, is an Associate Professor (Geography) and helps me a lot to explore my interests. She helped me a little while I was writing my story. I try to do things on my own, but whenever I get confused or need guidance, I can always ask her.
What would you like to do in the future?
I would like to continue writing stories because it is something I enjoy. I want to think of more interesting ideas and write about different subjects. Along with writing, I also want to continue enjoying my other hobbies and learning new things.
