Gaurangi Sinha is a homemaker and the mother of Parnika Sinha, class seven student at Apeejay Kharghar.  Parnika’s father Puneet Sinha, works as a chief manager with Bank of India. In an interview, she explains why the family chose the school, her experience with the faculty and the progress of her child. Edited Excerpts:

Why did you choose Apeejay, Kharghar over other schools?

My elder daughter was studying in Apeejay School, Kharghar for a long time. Then, we moved to Varanasi for four years. Upon coming back to Mumbai, we tried for Apeejay Kharghar again for both our daughters. Since my elder daughter, Shriyorjita Sinha, currently in class 10, had already studied at Apeejay Kharghar and her experience with the school was really nice, we were convinced that we would enroll Parnika here as well. The teachers in the school are very supportive. The entire school staff is very helpful, especially in these times of online classes.

Please tell us about your child and take us through her progress?

Parnika is doing very well.  We are very satisfied with her performance. She is excelling in co-curricular activities along with her studies. Her favourite subject is Science, she has a passion for the subject. She is also good in English and Mathematics. She likes to paint and she paints very well, too. She is also good at dance. Recently she has participated in her school assembly as the anchor and scriptwriter.

Are the teachers engaging well with the students?

Yes, they are teaching very well. In the current situation I will say, they are putting in additional efforts for every student. Many times, I have also attended classes along with my daughter and I have seen their efforts myself.

Parnika told me that her class teacher, who is also the computer teacher, Varshali Kadam Ma’am, is a lovely teacher. She encourages every student to participate in all the activities.

What is the best thing about the school?

The school is more focused on academics. Extra-curricular activities are very necessary for the development of a student but the main focus should be on academics. I find this being implemented in the school. The school also teaches discipline to students, which is essential for them.

What is your perception of the online mode of education?

In the online classes I see enormous efforts being put in by the teachers. Due to the pandemic, we are not willing to send our children to school yet. But I am very satisfied with the manner of teaching. Teachers are paying greater attention to every student. Parents are also able to keep an eye on their children and their classes.
