In a remarkable achievement that highlights the creative and entrepreneurial spirit of its students, Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, clinched first place in a Business Plan Competition held at Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus. The winning team comprised three dynamic students—Samairaa Chetal, Harshita Sharma, and Disha Sharma—from B.Voc. E-Commerce (2nd Semester), whose innovative business idea earned accolades from judges and participants alike.
Competing against 19 participating teams from various institutions, the Apeejay team stood out with their futuristic and tech-driven concept titled “Monova – Stylist in Your Pocket.” Their business proposal revolved around a smart AI-powered fashion-tech application that seeks to revolutionize the way individuals interact with their wardrobes and shop for clothing.
The concept behind Monova is to create a digital personal stylist that helps users maximize their existing wardrobe by suggesting creative outfit combinations for different occasions. At the same time, it offers personalized shopping recommendations that align with the user’s preferences, body type, and ongoing fashion trends. The app aims to bring efficiency, convenience, and style into the daily dressing routine, reducing decision fatigue and increasing confidence in personal presentation.
Furthermore, the business plan emphasized sustainability by encouraging users to repurpose and style their current wardrobe items, reducing overconsumption and waste in the fashion industry. With such a compelling vision, Monova not only promised commercial viability but also demonstrated a strong sense of social and environmental responsibility.
Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra expressed immense pride and joy at this remarkable victory. In her congratulatory message, she said, “Such creativity and vision reflect the spirit of innovation that Apeejay nurtures. I am immensely proud of our students for their forward-thinking approach and commendable teamwork.”
She also acknowledged the efforts of Ms. Garima Arora from the Department of Commerce and Management, who mentored the students throughout the preparation phase. Dr. Dhingra noted that it was Ms. Arora’s dedicated guidance and strategic mentorship that played a pivotal role in helping the students refine their concept and deliver a winning presentation.
The competition provided a valuable platform for students to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical, competitive setting, encouraging them to think like entrepreneurs and solve real-world problems. Events like these are essential in grooming future leaders and innovators, and Apeejay College of Fine Arts continues to prove its mettle by nurturing such talent.
This win adds another feather to the college’s cap, reinforcing its reputation as an institution that not only imparts academic excellence but also cultivates creativity, critical thinking, and industry-readiness among its students. With their groundbreaking idea and clear execution strategy, the students behind Monova have demonstrated that they are truly ready to make their mark in the evolving world of fashion and technology.
