Recently, Apeejay School, Noida, echoed with vibrant sounds and contagious energy during its much-awaited Inter-house Western Band Competition. The annual musical event, known for igniting creative passion among students, lived up to its legacy — bringing together harmony, teamwork, and musical finesse on one platform.
Houses in harmony
The event saw participation from the school’s four houses — Gandhi, Nehru, Tagore, and Radhakrishnan. Each team brought their flavour to the stage. The performances featured vocalists, guitarists, drummers, and keyboardists, blending styles from soft rock to pop and classic Western numbers.
From foot-tapping rhythms to powerful vocals, the students enthralled the audience with their electrifying energy. The bands not only showcased technical skill but also demonstrated coordination and camaraderie, which added to the overall impact.

Guiding notes from esteemed judges
What made the event even more special was the presence of two renowned alumni as judges: Mr Nirmalya Nath, Head Boy (Batch of 2021), a trained Hindustani classical musician with experience in vocals, harmonium, tabla, and drums, brought an expert ear to the fusion of Indian and Western styles.

Mr S Chandramouli, a three-time recipient of the Best Student Award in Instrumental Music (2016, 2021, and 2022), offered rich feedback grounded in his wide experience and love for musical diversity. Their constructive suggestions on performance and technique were well received by the young musicians, adding value to the learning experience.
Victors and ovations
As the competition concluded, applause filled the auditorium, reflecting the sheer talent displayed on stage. Gandhi House emerged victorious, clinching the first position, followed by Radhakrishnan House in second and Nehru House in third.
But beyond the trophies, the real victory was the spirit of expression, collaboration, and joy that music brought to everyone present.

The Inter-house Western Band Competition was not just another event — it was a celebration of youthful passion and the transformative power of music. For students, teachers, and guests alike, the day offered moments that will echo long after the last note was played.
