Hetvi Piplani secured the second rank in Faridabad district in India’s largest science talent search examination. The class 6 student of Apeejay School, Faridabad, who at present is interested in both science and commerce, emphasises, “Consistency is the key in cracking this exam.”  In a quick interview, the student achiever tells us about the exam pattern and gives some suggestions to all aspirants. Edited excerpts:

Your preparation routine must have been grilling. Please tell us about it?

I was very consistent to be honest. I studied two pages daily from the study material that was provided. Consistency was key!

That is wonderful. So brief us a bit about this exam. How many questions were there and how much did you score?

VVM is short form for Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan. It is India’s largest science talent search examination for classes 6-11 and is conducted by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. There were 100 questions in the exam that were divided into two sections, with 40 and 60 questions each. I scored fairly well in the exam and am very happy with my performance.

How did your school support you to crack this exam?

I remember that before the exam I was facing some problem with the login process. I was nervous, but my teachers were there and helped me resolve the problem.

Do you wish to take science in future?

I am intrigued by both Science and Commerce at present. Let’s see what the future holds for me. My aim in life is to be happy and do the best in whatever I choose to do!

Very well said indeed! So one piece of advice for all science enthusiasts attempting this exam?

You must remember the goal that made you pursue science and keep in mind why that goal intrigued you. Do your best and understand all the concepts clearly.

Next targets?

To do well in class 7 and make my parents proud.
