Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) recently organised a 3-day trip to Jaisalmer and Longewala for its students. During the bus journey, students and faculty members had a great time.

On the first day of the trip, we reached our camps in Jaisalmer very early in the morning and immediately went for a jeep desert safari, which was a thrilling and exciting experience. After reaching the Dunes of Thar, we participated in many desert activities such as camel riding, paramotoring, parasailing, quad bike and so on. Later on, we had a relaxing time at our camps, followed by dinner with a Dj night.
That night the sky looked very clear with stars shinning. All of us enjoyed walking, dancing, and laughing at the midnight cold breeze of the desert, and we simply sat outside our tents and counted the stars and constellations.
The next day, we all headed for Kuldhara village, also known as the ghost village. Rajasthan has no dearth of ghost villages but a few of them have got much attention like Bhangarh and Kuldhara.
Later, we went to Longewala, situated at the Indo-Pak border, where the battle of Longewala took place in 1971. We also visited the Longewala museum and watched a 16-minute documentary on the Longewala battle. In the evening we left for our camps.
On the last day of our amazing journey, we left for Jaisalmer fort. It is believed to be one of the very few “living forts” in the world. The fort’s massive yellow sandstone walls are a tawny lion colour during the day, fading to honey-gold as the sun sets, thereby camouflaging the fort in the yellow desert. For this reason, it is also known as the Sonar Quila or Golden Fort.
After the visit to the fort, we all left for Delhi in the evening, a small trip of 3 days came to a lovely end. All the tired yet happy faces sat in the bus, we witnessed the sunset and headed towards our home. The trip to Jaisalmer was an amazing, and with all the friends and faculties it certainly turned out to be one of the most memorable!
