Students embark on a thrilling overnight camp to Igatpuri
Apeejay School, Kharghar, fosters 21st-century skills through an enriching excursion that was about fun, learning and reflections
Excursions provide students with hands-on learning experiences, allowing them to step outside their classrooms and into the real world. Apeejay School, Kharghar, has always believed in holistic education, and this philosophy was evident in the recent overnight excursion to Igatpuri for students of Classes VII and VIII. The trip was designed to promote teamwork, environmental awareness, and personal growth.
The much-anticipated trip saw enthusiastic participation, with 173 students and 12 teachers joining in. The students set off on their adventure in four buses, filled with excitement and curiosity about the journey ahead. Igatpuri, a scenic hill station in Maharashtra’s Western Ghats, is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage, making it the perfect destination for an educational yet fun-filled trip.
Thrilling adventures at Quadrant 73°
The first stop was Quadrant 73°, a sprawling 20-acre adventure zone designed for thrilling outdoor activities. Students actively participated in unique games like human foosball, archery, and raft building. These activities not only provided immense fun but also reinforced important life skills like teamwork, coordination, and problem-solving.
One of the highlights of the visit was the nature trek, which allowed students to explore the rich flora and fauna of the region. The trek also included a plantation activity, where students planted tomato saplings, fostering a sense of responsibility towards nature and promoting sustainability.
After an exhilarating day, the students checked into Manas Lifestyle Resort, where they spent the night. The evening was filled with music, dance, and a lively fashion show, creating an atmosphere of joy and celebration. The students showcased their creativity and confidence, making it an unforgettable night.
Exploring nature and spirituality
The second day of the excursion began with a visit to Bahuli Dam, where students admired the stunning natural beauty and serenity of the surroundings. The peaceful atmosphere provided a moment of reflection, allowing students to appreciate the beauty of nature.
The students then proceeded to Dhammagiri Vipassana Centre, a renowned meditation hub. Here, students participated in a guided meditation session, introducing them to mindfulness and inner peace. The session helped students understand the importance of mental well-being and focus, essential skills for their academic and personal lives.
The students shared their experiences, laughed over shared moments, and reflected on the valuable lessons they had learnt. This excursion was more than just a recreational trip — it was a learning experience that left a lasting impact on the students. I
