Apeejay School, Pitampura’s kindergarteners turn tiffin boxes into an animal-themed feast
The activity titled asked families to reimagine everyday tiffin staples as artworks inspired by the animals
At Apeejay School, Pitampura, the youngest learners found a delicious way to bring their classroom lessons home. As part of their ongoing exploration of the theme animals, Kindergarten students turned up with tiffin boxes transformed into edible showcases of creativity, blending learning with lunchtime in a way that had both students and parents equally invested.
The activity titled Fun Food-Animal Mood asked families to reimagine everyday tiffin staples as miniature works of art inspired by the animal kingdom. The results were as inventive as they were appetising: bear-shaped sandwiches, Mickey Mouse-styled tikkis, fish-shaped stuffed parathas, mouse-shaped idlis, and giraffe-patterned bread rolls all made their way into the classroom.
Rather than confining the animal theme to worksheets and picture books, the exercise gave young students a tactile, visual, and fun way to reinforce what they’d absorbed in class.
For children this young, connecting a lesson to a hands-on, sensory experience tends to make learning stick far more effectively than repetition alone. The activity also nudged children toward sharing their creations with classmates.
