5 ways that can help them shine in 2025

The new year will start in two days and it’s the perfect time for students to hit the reset button and set the tone for a productive and fulfilling 2025. Keshvi Priya Sinha, a BJMC student from Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram, mentioned, “To start the new year positively, I will focus on reflection, setting SMART goals, creating a vision board, prioritising self-care, and surrounding myself with supportive influences. The idea is to embrace growth, learning, and self-improvement to turn aspirations into achievements. Bring on the new year!”

Let’s look at five ways students can make a positive start:

1. Set Clear Goals

Define what you want to achieve academically, personally, and socially. Break these goals into smaller, manageable steps. For instance, aim for consistent study hours, develop new skills, or join extracurricular activities. Writing down your goals keeps you focused and motivated.

2. Declutter and Organise

A clutter-free space leads to a clutter-free mind. Begin the year by organising your study area, cleaning up your notes, and creating a system for managing assignments. Use planners or digital tools to stay on top of deadlines and tasks.

3. Adopt a Growth Mindset

Embrace challenges and view setbacks as opportunities to learn. A growth mindset helps you tackle difficulties with confidence and resilience. Celebrate small victories and focus on self-improvement rather than perfection.

4. Prioritise Well-Being

Balance is key to success. Dedicate time to mental and physical health by practicing mindfulness, exercising regularly, and maintaining a balanced diet. Incorporating activities like yoga or journaling can reduce stress and increase positivity.

5. Strengthen Relationships

Build meaningful connections with friends, family, and mentors. Participate in group projects, volunteer work, or social events. Positive relationships provide support, encouragement, and a sense of belonging throughout the year.

Sharing her plan for 2025, Madhu Kumari of Apeejay Stya University mentioned, “As I am going to step into the new year, I am determined to learn and practice new ideas and work. I’ll improve my time management skills this year. I’ll focus on a positive mind set and
self-love while enhancing my knowledge and vocabulary by reading one book  a month.”

Another student Kumud Kalra also shared her plans for the upcoming year which will be focused on self-care. “I’ll balance academics with time for hobbies, exercises, and relaxation, and I’ll practice self-love, self-care, and self-growth, self-healing, and furthermore, I’ll work on all the things related to my own self and my learning and so on and on, all this would keep my mind and body refreshed for better focus,” she said.

Ria Bhowmick emphasised that as the new year is going to begin, it is also important to  reflect on the past year. “Take some time to look back on the year. Learn from your mistakes and celebrate your success.”
