Shana Siddique is a brilliant artist. An Apeejay Institute of Technology – School of Architecture & Planning (AIT-SAP) student, who is both diligent in her studies and also in her passion. After making two delightful sketches of the Jama Masjid in Delhi, she has rightfully claimed the prize to be selected as this week’s Aspiring Artist.
In a quick interview, Shana speaks about her love for charcoal artworks and how painting is her hobby.
Since when have you been drawing?
I started sketching from school time and now art is a dear hobby to me.
So ,which art form is your favourite and why?

My favourite art form is painting with all its different mediums. Painting gives me a great relief, as I am able to express my thoughts through colours.
How does your college support you as an artist?
It has always encouraged me to try new painting mediums and different art forms which change my perspective for an artwork and also towards art.
How would you define art?
Art is an emotion. One expresses one’s feelings through different artforms.
How much time does it take you to complete an artwork? What are the common ideas and themes?
The average time for completing an artwork is about 5-6 hours and it also depends on the theme and medium of the artwork. This Jama Masjid artwork took me almost 10-12 hours for completion. Mostly I like to work on still life artworks.
A new artform you wish to learn?
I wish to learn charcoal painting! I am fascinated by it.
Finally, other hobbies apart from art?
I like to cook and play badminton!
