A celebration of friendship, love and bond via global outreach & a special assembly

Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar, marked a week dedicated to the spirit of friendship. To celebrate the day, the School blended international outreach with on-campus celebrations. 

As part of the British Council’s Recognition of International Dimension in Schools (RIDS) initiative, students of Class 6 participated in the ‘Friendship Cards Across Borders’ activity. It was themed ‘Shared Wings Festival,’ under the school’s ongoing ‘Flight Beyond Frontiers’ programme. 

With creativity and heartfelt messages centred on kindness, peace, unity, and hope, the young artists designed beautiful handmade friendship cards. These cards are set to be shared digitally and sent via courier to the school’s partner institution, ACT Academy in Sri Lanka.

Through this activity, Apeejay School aimed to strengthen international bonds and foster cultural understanding among young learners across borders. This initiative, the school reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing compassionate, responsible global citizens who understand that friendship knows no boundaries.

Continuing the celebratory spirit, the school also commemorated International Friendship Day with a special assembly held on campus. The programme featured an inspiring thought of the day. Alongside, there was a meaningful enactment highlighting the importance of standing by and helping friends, an engaging speech, and a melodious group song presented by students of Class 8. Through these performances, students conveyed timeless values of love, trust, kindness, and togetherness to their peers.

The assembly served as a gentle yet powerful reminder that true friendship is built on care, respect, and compassion. These values extend far beyond the classroom and, as demonstrated through the international card exchange, even beyond national borders.

Taken together, the two initiatives reflected Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar’s broader vision of fostering empathy and global awareness among its students. By combining a local celebration of the day with a cross-border exchange, the school ensured that its students celebrate the values of kindness and unity in their immediate community. 

Students also extended a hand of friendship to peers thousands of miles away, reinforcing the idea that compassion and connection remain universal, no matter the distance.
