In a proactive effort to address and spread awareness about Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), the Rotaract Club of Apeejay Stya University, Gurugram (RaCASUG) hosted a special session on this common hormonal problem for women of childbearing age. The session was delivered by Dr. Neha Gupta, Senior Consultant from the Institute of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Medanta, Gurugram.

The event commenced with an introduction to women’s health issues including various aspects of PCOS, covering its symptoms, causes, and potential health implications.

It highlighted the role of lifestyle in managing PCOS. Dr. Gupta discussed the significance of a balanced diet, regular exercise, and stress management in mitigating the impact of PCOS on women’s health.

Attendees gained insights into the medical interventions available for PCOS, including medications and therapies. Dr. Gupta stressed the importance of personalised healthcare plans, considering individual variations in symptoms and health conditions.

The event underscored the significance of raising awareness about PCOS in educational institutions and communities. The interactive session also allowed attendees to ask questions and seek clarifications, fostering a better understanding of the syndrome. Sharing her thoughts, Rtr. Vibhuti Verma, President, RaCASUG said, “PCOS is a hormonal disorder in women, which can lead to infertility, heart disease, diabetes, sleep apnea, and strokes. It is a very common condition, but often misdiagnosed and misunderstood. Thus, it is extremely important to throw light on the topic and this session turned out to be a really fruitful one.”

The session concluded by expressing gratitude to the guest for her informative and engaging presentation. Attendees were encouraged to share the knowledge gained with their peers and contribute to the broader initiative of promoting women’s health awareness.
