The Art of Man-making: ‘Apeejay is a place of integrity and inspiration,’ says winner of Dr Stya Paul Award for Human Values
Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication student Parivesh Maheswari shares how the institute is encouraging him to become a better version of himself each day
What inspires Parivesh Maheshwari, a PGDM student from the batch 2022-24 at Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC), Dwarka, about Dr Stya Paul is his vision of value-based holistic education that has guided Apeejay Education for decades.
And the Apeejay student has been feeling the positive air since the day he joined this AIMC. “There was a shift of a captivating wind in my life. I am thoroughly enjoying every moment the college life has provided me with, be it the academic learnings, entertaining sports days or fun canteen gossip with my friends.”
Parivesh is multi-talented, having diversified interests such as writing and reading. And recently, the budding media professional received the coveted Dr. Stya Paul Award for Human Values. In a candid interview, the winner talks about how his parents are an inspiration and some of the human values that he follows. Read edited excerpts:
How did you get nominated? What was your reaction when you were given this award?
I was mesmerised when I received this prestigious award. I was told that the competition for the first place was fierce and I just notched an edge up to it. I couldn’t feel my feet when I received this award, it means a lot to me personally.
What have been your key learnings from Apeejay?
Apeejay is a place of integrity and inspiration. I become a better version of myself each day since the day I stepped in the Apeejay premises.
What role have your teachers and batchmates at Apeejay played in your life?
No success comes with just individualistic efforts. Rather, my professors and colleagues have been the epitome of motivation to my purpose in this holy place of knowledge.
Any teaching of Dr Stya Paul that inspires you?
Yes, I am truly inspired by his motto: We believe that academic excellence should go parallel with human excellence, where it is not a disgrace if dreams are unfulfilled, but it is, if we “have no dreams to dream.”
What are some of the human values that you follow and why?
The very human values which reside in my heart are that of honesty and charity.
What is your motto of living a good and happy life?
Keep it simple, live life to the fullest and work earnestly for your goal.
In this digital era, where in-person human connections and bonds are taking a backseat; how can one still instill these values among individuals?
Technology was developed to ease the lives of humans and their relationships. And so, we should focus on utilising social media in aspects which bring a feeling of togetherness that spreads joy in this little life we have.
Who is your role model? What are your future aspirations?
My role models are my parents, who provided me with such a great opportunity to represent and explore myself, especially living outside my hometown. I aspire to become a prominent personality in this responsible field of media and journalism , contributing something eminent to society.
