By adopting a holistic perspective on academic achievements, attention is given to a wide range of skills such as creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork. This comprehensive method of acknowledging accomplishments fosters self-esteem and motivates students to explore their passions and make the most of their distinctive abilities with vigour.

Support from educators, mentors, and fellow students is crucial in inspiring learners to enhance their abilities and follow their passions. Customized responses that recognize the distinctiveness of each student’s abilities further aid in fostering their growth. This individualized strategy guarantees that every student feels appreciated and motivated to achieve their utmost capabilities.

Meet two such students – Atharv Sujay Kadam and Katyayani Sharma of Apeejay School, Nerul, who have not only cleared their class IV triumphantly but have also epitomised Apeejay Education motto: Soaring High is my Nature; the teaching methodology has allowed these students to not only excel academically but holistically as well.

Going to a new class (V) has been a milestone for Atharv who says that drawing is his favourite hobby. Interestingly, unlike many, he didn’t follow a specific study pattern or plan. “Instead, I managed to secure good marks by dedicating two hours daily to my studies. Balancing my time between drawing, studies, and play is crucial for me. I reserve my drawing for weekends when I have free time, while on weekdays, I focus on studying before I play,” he said and added that he has already chartered his plans.

“I have decided that I want to become a businessman, a dream that stands apart from my father’s profession in the Army. But I am not sure what business I want to do. I have the next several years to think of an idea and fine-tune it,” Atharv shared and added that he is particularly proud of the fact that he won a Spell Bee Competition.

So how to score well on the tests? He has a simple mantra. “Studying for just two hours with complete dedication can lead to success. This way there won’t be any stress or anxiety before the exams since students would have completed their course well in time,” he advised and said that Ronaldo is his role model, inspiring him in various aspects of his life.

Finally, he attributes his success to the support of his teachers. “They have been pivotal in my achievements; they’ve been very encouraging and helpful, ready to assist me whenever I needed it,” Atharv said.

Seconds Katyayni. And shared that she has been lucky enough to have all the teachers who showed personal care and individual hand-holding approaches for needy students. “I have reached class V and done well due to the support and guidance of the teachers,” Katyayni said and shared that her hobbies include reading, dancing, and solving Math problems.

Regarding study methodology, she finds revising everything learnt at school every day, writing about what she has learnt. “Taking short breaks every hour is the most effective for retaining information. To balance academic work with other activities, I meticulously plan according to my studies and adhere strictly to this schedule, ensuring I allocate an hour daily for play and relaxation to refresh my mind, she shared.

To ace her tests, she set daily goals like completing her homework and studying for at least two hours, which are achieved through thorough planning. “Outside of schoolwork, I am particularly proud of a speech I delivered for Republic Day 2024 in my community, which was well-received, and my achievements in a Special Interest Club organised by the school for chess,” Katyayni said who aspires to be a neurologist and neurosurgeon to assist individuals with brain conditions like dyslexia.

For students aiming to improve their performance, her advice is to study diligently every day, even if it’s just for two hours. “Take regular breaks, and approach your studies with devotion, sincerity, and focus,” she advised.
