‘Teachers are ready to guide us whenever we need help’

At Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram, students rely on faculty as a driving force behind their growth, who go beyond the classroom to prepare them for the professional world. In this conversation, Shahina Parveen, a B.Pharm student at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, speaks about how her experience with ASU and how the university has shaped her confidence, skills, and career path.

Tell about yourself.

I am pursuing a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Apeejay Stya University, Gurugram. I have always been interested in learning about medicines and the pharmaceutical industry. I enjoy learning new things and improving my practical knowledge. At present, I am doing my internship at Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, where I am getting valuable industry exposure.

What are the two best parts of the university?

For me, the two best things about ASU are the supportive faculty and the practical learning environment. Our teachers are always ready to guide us whenever we need help. Along with classroom learning, the university also gives us opportunities to attend workshops, seminars, industrial visits, and internships. These experiences help us become more confident and industry-ready.

How does the University help you pursue your hobbies and goals?

The university always encourages students to participate in different academic and extracurricular activities. It provides opportunities to learn, explore, and improve ourselves. The guidance from our teachers has helped me stay focused on my goal of building a career in the pharmaceutical industry. The university has also helped me improve my confidence and communication skills.

How do teachers help you develop different skills?

Our teachers always motivate us to learn beyond textbooks. They encourage us to give presentations, participate in practical sessions, and work on projects. They are always available to guide us whenever we have doubts. Because of their support, I have improved my technical knowledge, communication skills, teamwork, and confidence.

How has the University changed you as a person and added to your growth?

Joining the university has been a great learning experience for me. It has made me more confident, disciplined, and responsible. Earlier, I was not very comfortable speaking in front of others, but now I feel much more confident. The university has helped me grow both personally and professionally, and it has prepared me for the corporate world.

What new skills have you learnt at ASU?

During my time here, I have learned many important skills like laboratory techniques, teamwork, communication, presentation skills, time management, and professional behaviour. I have also gained practical knowledge that has helped me during my internship.

Where are you interning, and how did you prepare for this offer?

I am currently doing my internship at Sun Pharmaceutical Industries. I would like to sincerely thank the faculty from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Apeejay Stya University, for giving me this opportunity. Because of their guidance, support, and efforts, I got the chance to intern at Sun Pharma.

It is a dream opportunity for many pharmacy students. I feel very fortunate to be here. To prepare for this internship, I focused on my academics, especially pharmaceutical subjects and laboratory practicals. I also worked on improving my basic technical knowledge and communication skills so that I could perform well in a professional environment.

What are your future aspirations?

My goal is to build a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry. I want to keep learning, gain more practical experience, and grow professionally. In the future, I also hope to become a successful entrepreneur and contribute to the healthcare sector by doing meaningful work.
