In today’s educational landscape, competitions that go beyond traditional academics like reciting, speaking, or just having an engaging activity amongst students hold significant value in shaping students’ holistic development. These events contribute uniquely to fostering crucial skills that go beyond textbook knowledge. While conventional academics are essential, non-book competitions enrich students’ experiences and offer invaluable opportunities for growth and self-expression.
To inculcate a unique set of values amongst students, Apeejay School, Noida, recently organised a competition for the students of class I. To bolster confidence, oratorical prowess, creativity, and a spirit of friendly competition among our students, an exciting intraclass event titled ‘Classroom Without Walls-Show and Tell’ took place on April 25, 2024.
The theme of this engaging competition was centered around the students’ beloved playthings — ‘My Favorite Toy’.
The primary objective behind this initiative was to provide a stimulating platform where students could confidently share personal stories and experiences related to their cherished toys.
By participating in this event, students had the opportunity to enhance their public speaking abilities, foster creativity in presenting their favorite toys, and cultivate a sense of pride in their interests.
In a captivating display of talent and enthusiasm, students from every section were invited to take part in the initial Preliminary round of the ‘Classroom Without Walls-Show and Tell’ competition. From this pool of eager participants, five standout speakers from each section were chosen to advance to the highly anticipated final round.
During the event, these young contestants passionately shared anecdotes about their favorite toys, speaking with poise and charisma for two minutes each. The stage came alive with innovative presentations as students creatively incorporated various props to enhance their storytelling.
The students were judged according to their confidence, clarity of speech, voice modulation, pronunciation, content, creativity, and overall presentation. This holistic approach ensured that students were not only expressing themselves effectively but also refining essential communication skills in a supportive environment.
Through initiatives like the ‘Classroom Without Walls-Show and Tell’, this school is committed to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are equipped with not just academic knowledge but also essential life skills. This event served as a testament to the power of creativity, confidence, and collaboration in shaping the next generation of confident and articulate communicators.
Ms Smriti Samuel, the Primary in charge, extended her heartfelt congratulations to all participants of the ‘Classroom Without Walls-Show and Tell’ competition, recognising their remarkable efforts and enthusiasm. She emphasized the invaluable exposure that such competitions provide, particularly at this formative stage of their academic journey.
The competition proved to be a delightful and enriching experience for all students involved, fostering holistic learning through joyful expression and creative engagement. The results of the competition: First Place: Tavish Goel (I-D) followed by the Second Place: Kavya Uppal (I-B). The best-in-class students were selected namely, Saanvi Pilania, Saesha Dahale, Dushyant Chauhan, and Ishaanvi Rathore from sections A, B, C, and D, respectively.
