The Thanksgiving celebration at Apeejay’s IB School, Apeejay School International, Panchsheel Park, set a warm tone for the day. The focus was simple and sincere. Students came together to thank the support staff who care for them every day. The didis, as they are lovingly called, were at the heart of this gathering. The event encouraged young learners to pause and notice the people who quietly make their school life easier.
Nursery and Reception students prepared a spread through fireless cooking. The menu was colourful and easy for little hands to assemble. Sandwiches, chocolate balls, fruit chaat, biscuit bites with toppings and refreshing drinks became part of their tiny culinary effort. What this really means is that the children were not just cooking. They were preparing something meaningful for someone else. When they offered these treats to the didis, their excitement showed how proud they felt.

Participation beyond the classroom
Students who attended online added their own touch. They designed gratitude cards that were later shared with the staff. This kept them connected to the spirit of the day even from a distance. All learners then met in the AV Room. They presented their greetings and the food they had prepared. The didis felt appreciated and were touched by the gesture.

The celebration did not stop at food and greetings. Teachers encouraged the children to think about how the didis help them every day. They talked about tying their shoes, guiding them in the washroom, packing bags and making sure they feel safe. These conversations helped the students understand that gratitude is not only about saying thank you. It is about recognising kindness in everyday actions.

Learning for life
The event carried a simple lesson. Gratitude grows when children learn to notice the efforts of others. It shapes empathy and respect. The Thanksgiving celebration made this visible in a way they could understand.
The day closed with warm smiles, shared treats and a deeper sense of connection within the school community.
