Nadira Usman is a name synonymous with talent galore. This five-year-old, Junior KG student at Apeejay School, Nerul was felicitated at the Annual Appreciation Day recently where she won the hearts and laurels of everyone present. This young prodigy wishes to shine like the brightest star up somewhere in the Andromeda galaxy.

In a candid interview, she narrates the chronicles of her most joyous learning experiences.

How do you feel after winning so many prizes?

I participated in several events like the Fancy Dress, Clay Modelling, and Singing competition. I won first prize in all the three categories. It was such a wonderful learning experience for me.

How did you learn so many art forms at such a young age?

My whole and sole inspiration is my mother. She has taught me dancing, clay modelling and singing. I am so happy and blessed to have such a talented mother as my guiding light and my first teacher.

What did you do during the competition?

For the Clay Modelling, I made a Christmas model, for the Fancy Dress, I was dressed up like a Macaw (kind of a parrot). Finally, during the Singing competition, I sang – Ae Watan Mere Watan (from the movie Raazi). I won the first prize for all these performances and was so excited to watch everyone clapping for me so loud.

What do you want to become when you grow up?

I want to take up the Science stream since I aspire to become a doctor.

What is your favourite food?

I love to gorge on idli, dosa, and curd-rice. South Indian cuisine is my favourite.

What is the best part about school?

I love going to school daily. I will wake up early in the morning, brush my teeth, take a bath and then wear my school uniform and dress up nicely for school. My favourite subjects are Math, English, and Science.

What is your daily routine like?

After coming back from school, I will take a power nap. Then wake up and study for a while, finish my homework, and go play with my friends. After that, I eat my dinner and go to sleep between 9 pm-10 pm.
