On July 30, 2025, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar, hosted a virtual cultural exchange with Ho-Sin Elementary School, Taiwan. The event was part of the British Council’s Recognition of International Dimension in Schools (RIDS) initiative, aimed at broadening global understanding among young learners.

The collaboration involved Class IV and Class X students from Apeejay School and their counterparts in Taiwan. The theme was clear: To celebrate national identity while building bridges across borders.

The younger students led the first half of the session with an engaging activity focused on national symbols. Flags, animals, monuments, and festivals — each student contributed by presenting and comparing these elements from their respective countries.

This side-by-side exploration helped students discover both similarities and unique traits of Indian and Taiwanese cultures. It was a hands-on way to learn Geography, History, and social values — all within a single conversation.

An impressive musical gesture

The event took a moving turn when the Class X students of Apeejay School sang Taiwan’s National Song in Mandarin. Their effort and pronunciation were met with warm smiles and heartfelt applause from the students and teachers of Ho-Sin Elementary School. This musical tribute left a lasting impression, showing how language barriers fade when intent is genuine.

Next came a performance that captured Indian values beautifully. Apeejay School students enacted a Raksha Bandhan ceremony, highlighting the importance of sibling love, loyalty, and responsibility. It was more than just a cultural showcase — it offered Taiwanese students a glimpse into the emotional depth of Indian traditions.

A step toward lifelong friendships

The exchange did more than tick educational boxes. It helped young learners become more open, respectful, and aware of global diversity. Through songs, symbols, and shared stories, students formed bonds that transcend geography.

This experience also reflected the dedication of Apeejay School’s educators in promoting cultural literacy and international dialogue at a young age. By nurturing curiosity and empathy, they made this initiative not just meaningful but memorable.
