Vikas Grover, Associate Business Manager, HCL Technologies, whose son Noel was recently moved to Apeejay Faridabad Sector 15 in class 7, was worried whether he would be able to adjust to a new environment. Since the time Noel started attending the offline classes, he has come back home with good feedback, says his father. In an interview, Vikas reveals what prompted him to enroll his child in Apeejay. Edited excerpts:

What made you move your son to Apeejay Faridabad Sector 15?

There was some discontentment with the previous school with the way they handled classes amid the pandemic. That was the trigger when we started looking for other schools, among which Apeejay was our first choice. We were very clear this time that we wanted to enroll Noel in Apeejay—it was the only school we applied to as we wanted our child to be part of a rich legacy and high spectrum of education. Luckily, my son cracked the entrance exam.

Take me through the admission process. What was your first interaction with the faculty like?

The admission process was completely online. We filled out the form in December last year; in February, we got in touch with the school and were informed that our son could take the entrance exam either online or offline. This flexibility was what appealed to me. The admission process was fairly seamless after that. We had an interaction with the coordinator Yasir Khan, followed by an entrance test on three subjects, the results for which were declared quickly. Later, we had a virtual interaction with the school principal which went very well.

What do you think of the school’s infrastructure?

The school was undergoing renovation the first time I visited the campus. To my pleasant surprise, when I visited the school yesterday, I saw a spacious new reception. I have been to the campus twice or thrice now and I think the infrastructure Is good and will turn out to be even better once the renovation is complete.

Now that Noel has attended school for quite a few days, does he feel comfortable?

Noel respects his teachers. I believe there should be a line between teachers’ approachability and discipline and Apeejay maintains that balance. My son has adapted well and feels comfortable in school. It is the biggest fear when you change a child’s school after eight years. But he has settled and made some friends. He feels happy with the school.

Has he adapted well to methods of learning and participating in co-curricular activities?

Noel has been part of a group singing activity. He has been part of kabaddi selection trials too. He will soon join the sports club too. Noel has started gelling really well.
