Every child possesses a unique caliber; some thrive in structured environments, while others excel in flexible and practical approaches. A school must provide various learning methods, from classroom teaching to project-based and experiential learning, allowing every child to soar high.
Alok Sehgal, father of Nikita Sehgal in class VIII at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, is satisfied with the quality of education. He appreciates the school’s commitment to its motto, ‘Soaring high is my nature.’
Excerpts from the interview.
How do you approach your daughter’s education in terms of decision-making freedom?
We believe in granting our daughter the freedom to make her own choices, allowing her to decide between a medical or non-medical path based on her academic interests.
What are your thoughts on the diverse learning needs of children?
Recognising that every child possesses a unique caliber, we advocate for a school that offers various learning methods, ranging from classroom teaching to project-based and experiential learning to cater to different learning styles.
Can you share your experience with Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg?
I am truly satisfied with the school’s quality of education. Nikita’s seamless adaptation to the school environment within a year, enjoying her time without any complaints makes me happy..
How was the admission process for your daughter?
The admission process was straightforward; a single visit facilitated a meeting with the principal, and due to Nikita’s academic prowess, admission was swiftly completed.

Are there any extracurricular activities your daughter is involved in?
My daughter actively participates in badminton and yoga. While she engaged in dance and music at her previous school, her current involvement depends on her mood. We refrain from imposing activities, allowing Nikita the freedom to make her own choices.
What are your thoughts on pressuring children into specific academic streams?
We strongly oppose pressuring children and believe in empowering them to make their own decisions. Academic performance is essential, but we also recognise the importance of open and thoughtful discussions with our daughter about her future academic path, rejecting stereotypes like ‘if your parents are doctors, you shall also take up the medical field.’
Does the school’s curriculum impact a child’s development, according to you?
Yes, we believe the school environment, curriculum, and friends play a significant role. I decided to switch my daughter to Apeejay School in the 9th grade, considering recommendations and curriculum offerings, to ensure a supportive atmosphere for Nikita’s seamless adaptation.
How do you spend quality time with your child?
Despite our medical backgrounds, we make time to discuss various aspects of life with our kids, emphasising family bonds through outings, collaborative study sessions, and recreational activities.
What do you appreciate the most about Apeejay School?
The teachers maintain a close and supportive relationship with the students, fostering an open atmosphere where students can express their thoughts and concerns comfortably.
Do you attend Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs)?
Certainly, my wife takes on the responsibility of attending regular PTMs held at the school.
