‘This institute shaped my career through comprehensive learning’

Meet Naina Kureel, a dynamic professional deeply entrenched in the IT sector, who is now making significant contributions as a Software Developer. Naina’s passion lies in navigating the intricacies of the IT industry. She holds a multitude of languages, both at the backend and frontend. Her enthusiasm for exploration within the IT landscape not only defines her career but also highlights a commitment to versatility in the ever-evolving tech domain.

In a candid interview, she explains how Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) has been a boon to her that has opened doors to brighter opportunities.

Tell us about you and your work.

Having graduated from ACFA in 2017, my professional journey has been deeply rooted in the IT sector. With over six years of experience, I currently hold the position of Senior Software Developer at Cognizant in Gurugram. 

What does your workday usually look like? 

I create codes and build solutions with an extensive use of multiple technologies and languages. The primary goal is to extract information as per the requirements of a client. Apart from that I also remain updated with standup calls with the team. As a software developer, I troubleshoot and debug various issues related to coding. Remaining abreast of the latest technologies and industry trends, I specialise in System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) management for seamless integration processes.

How did ACFA shape your career?

The institute has played a pivotal role in helping me shape my career through comprehensive learning experiences. the institute’s emphasis on hands-on projects and experiential learning helped me reach greater heights.

Was wokring in the IT sector always on the cards?

Given my close association with the technological sector from the beginning, my career aspirations were always aligned with this field. I am proud to affirm that I have successfully realized my dreams and turned them into a rewarding career.

What programming languages did you learn?

There is not just one but several technical skills and languages which I have learned over the years, in my professional journey. To name a few, I am proficient in Java, Oracle, Bootstrap, CSS, HTML, and .Net to name a few.

How has the transition from college to the professional IT sector been for you?

The college experience was truly remarkable. It provided me with knowledge I needed to excel in my present job; the professional realm allowed me to cultivate and apply that knowledge in real-world scenarios. I made plenty of friends. Overall the journey was superb.

Were there any extracurricular activities or clubs related to IT in college that you participated in?

Although such a prestigious college like ACFA used to regularly host different events and activities for the students to explore and learn from. I was once associated with an IT forum and participated well in it. Being its member for a long period of time, I was able to learn leadership skills and discipline.

Do you have any cherished memories from your time in college?

There is not just one memory but several. But the one that comes to my mind are the lab classes, the study zones with my friends, and friend-like teachers. Those were such lovely days!

What advice do you have for current students aspiring to pursue a career in IT?

Don’t give up on your goals. Persevere. Consistency of small efforts can lead to significant outcomes. Keep honing your skills, and continue to excel in whatever field you choose.
