A family picture of Navneet Kaur

Navneet Kaur (50) is a teacher in Jalandhar. Her daughters Arveen Kaur Bhatti and Jasmehar Kaur Bhatti are studying at Apeejay School, Rama Mandi. Her husband, Sukhnandan Singh is a Project Engineer with a private firm in the city. In an interview, Kaur talks about how the school is promoting her daughters’ talent of singing and giving them opportunities to realise their artistic potential.

Tell us a little more about your daughters?
Both my daughters are good singers. Arveen is 16 and is studying in Class 11. Jasmehar is 10 years old and is in class 5. Arveen is good at painting as well. But by nature, she is really shy. On the other hand, Jasmehar is a confident girl. She loves dancing and participates in almost all school activities.

Why did you choose Apeejay for your daughters?
Both of us are working professionals, so we were looking for a school that is close to our residence. Most importantly, the school has an established reputation. If we tell others that our daughters are studying at Apeejay, they tell us that we are fortunate. Also, the teachers here are very good and the Commerce faculty is simply excellent.

What are the future plans of Arveen?
She is in class 11 and opted for the Commerce stream a month before she was promoted to this class. Earlier she wanted to pursue the non-medical stream. As I have mentioned, the faculty of Commerce is very good at Apeejay, so she chose this stream. After school, she will attempt the CA exam. In case she is not able to clear it, we have a plan-B. In that case she will do her B.Com from a college that is affiliated to an international university in Canada.

Has Apeejay School helped your children groom their personality?
Yes, completely. I wish my elder daughter had studied at Apeejay from the beginning, unlike Jasmehar. Arveen is very shy as a person. As the teachers at Apeejay pay individual attention to the children, they would have identified this personality trait at her early age. But she got her admission here when she was in Class V, while Jasmehar is studying here from pre nursery.
If we talk about the overall experience at Apeejay, it has been wonderful. The teachers here focus on the overall development of the child. Be it academics or extra-curricular activities. Teachers identify the talents and then promote them.

What values have your daughters learnt from school?
Honesty. I must appreciate that the teachers have inculcated many good habits and values in our children that we feel proud of. Arveen never lies to anyone. She is really impressed with her English teacher since she teaches a lot of values about being honest.
Both my daughters are very punctual. Even when both of them are at home alone since we are away for work, they never miss their online classes. They are very sincere towards their studies.

“I proudly recommend the school to the new families who shift to our residential society.”
