Mrs. Vandana Gupta is a research scientist working on anti-cancer drugs. Her daughter Divyanshi Jindal and son Kushank Jindal are class 9 and 4 students at Apeejay School Faridabad respectively. In an interview, she recounts how the school had provided her with a van service to pick and drop her children from home. Edited excerpts:

Why did you choose Apeejay School Faridabad ahead of other schools for the admission of both your children?

During the admission process for our daughter, we were not sure about which school to select. We were giving interviews at numerous schools. Actually the problem we faced was that there was nobody at our home to pick and drop the kids. So we wanted someone to pick them from our home. Apeejay School, Faridabad provided us with a van service for the same, which would pick and drop the kids from the doorstep. In other schools, the parents have to drop the kids off at the bus stop which is at some distance from the child’s home. So that was the initial reason for choosing Apeejay School, Faridabad.  Later, as our daughter progressed at the school, we felt that Apeejay Faridabad is a very good school. The teachers are very experienced and treat the children very nicely. Then, for our Kushank, we decided to go ahead with the same school again. We had faith in Apeejay Faridabad by then.

Please tell us a bit about Divyanshi and Kushank and take us through their progress at school?

Divyanshi is doing very well at school. Her favourite subjects are Science and English. She loves to dance and read. Kushank on the other hand only loves Math. We have to force him to study another subject (laughs) . He loves watching television and loves playing games. He is a very naughty child. From the past two years he is at home, so perhaps that explains his TV binge watching habits.

Are the teachers engaging well with the students?

Yes, the teachers are teaching very nicely. I would like to thank Sandeep Oberoi Ma’am. She is Kushank’s class teacher at present and had also taught Divyanshi back in class 4.

What is the best thing about the school?

The teachers are very cooperative. Whenever you call them, they respond promptly and in a very nice manner. One doesn’t have to wait hours for their response. They are very friendly.

Now that the schools have reopened this week, are both the children excited to be back at the school campus?

Yes, very much. They are very happy to return to the school campus. We both are working parents, so the children were very happy to get ready with us today (laughs)

How has the experience of the online classes been for them?

It was a very good experience. Kushank is still young, so the teachers had to take care of him but for Divyanshi it was really very good. She has scored 98.7 % in the recent exams. She was one of the toppers as well.
