Currently in Class 12, she aspires to join the Indian Foreign Services. Here’s a glimpse into her strategies and experiences that have shaped her academic journey. Read edited excerpts:
Rakshitha, could you tell us a bit about yourself and your academic journey at Apeejay School?
I began my journey here in 2021, and this is my fourth year at the school. I’ve chosen the Humanities stream with a focus on History because I aspire to become an Indian Foreign Services Officer. My time at Apeejay has been incredibly rewarding, and I’ve consistently worked hard to achieve my goals.

What strategies did you use to excel in your Humanities subjects?
For me, revising frequently was crucial. After completing a topic, I made sure to review it multiple times to solidify my understanding. I’m also very organised, so I create detailed schedules for my study sessions. Sticking to these schedules has been very helpful. Additionally, the teachers at Apeejay School were always available to clarify my doubts, which made a significant difference.
Was there a particular subject that you found challenging, and how did you overcome it?
Economics was quite challenging for me initially, as it was a new subject. However, my teacher was incredibly supportive. He ensured that I understood each concept thoroughly. I frequently consulted him, especially with difficult microeconomics topics, which really helped me grasp the subject better.
How did you balance your studies with extracurricular activities?
Balancing studies and extracurriculars has been a part of my routine. I’m involved in various activities, including Bharatanatyam classes. I schedule my study time meticulously, making sure to allocate time for rest and activities. I believe that getting at least seven hours of sleep is essential for maintaining productivity and health.

How did the question papers at Apeejay School help you prepare for exams?
The question papers provided by our teachers were very much in line with the CBSE pattern. This alignment helped me understand what to focus on and what was crucial for the exams. I found these papers very useful in preparing for the actual tests, as they mirrored the type of questions we would encounter.
What are your future plans after completing Class 12?
After Class 12, I plan to give the CUET and seek admission to a North Campus University. My ultimate goal is to crack the UPSC exam and become an Indian Foreign Services Officer.
Do you have any advice for fellow students who are aiming for academic success?
My advice is to avoid procrastination and remain consistent with your study schedule. Even if you can dedicate only an hour a day to studying, consistency is key. Also, try not to stress too much; stress can hinder both joy and intelligence. Stay focused and maintain a steady routine.
How do you feel about your achievements and your time at Apeejay School?
Receiving the Humanities Topper award was incredibly gratifying. It was a moment of pride for both me and my parents. I appreciate the opportunities I’ve had at Apeejay School. From being the Wise Head Girl to serving as the Hindi Editor, the school has provided me with numerous opportunities to grow and excel.
What do you love most about being a part of Apeejay School?
I love the inclusive community at Apeejay School. Despite being a new student when I joined, I was given ample opportunities to participate and lead. The support and inclusiveness here have been a significant factor in my development and achievements.
