The students of classes VIII A and B at Apeejay School, Noida recently organised a special assembly on the theme – Digital Detoxification. Held in the school auditorium, the assembly was graced by the school Principal Ms Ritu Kohli, the Vice-principal, faculty members, and energetic parents.

The assemblage began with a benign invocation. Three young comperes took the stage and pitched the theme, underscoring the necessity of balancing technology’s good aspects with the possibility that it may disrupt mental and physical health. A mesmerising dance, Pushpanjali, complemented a thoughtful reflection of the day. This was followed by an update on the current affairs, national, international, sports news and weather news.

Digitisation: Causing needless crashes in life

Students again took the limelight, speaking fervently on the challenges brought by digital dependency. The assembly continued with a lively musical skit which, put creatively, depicted the whole process as well as the benefits of digital detoxification. Humour and song brought to light the fact that life can bloom free from the constant allure of the screens.

Speaking about the special assembly, Ms Ashoo Arora, Activity Coordinated at the school said: “The event explored the overwhelming effects of technology in our lives, despite its benefits. Our students conveyed this message beautifully, encouraging everyone to reflect on how we use our screens in everyday life.”

Aanshi Shagun, a student of class VIII-B, who participated in the special assembly, said: “Digital detox is a sign of self-awareness and self-care as it disconnects one from the digital world and reconnects with the real world.”

A nukkad natak to reflect upon

The highlight of the event was the nukkad natak where the students, with rich oral narration and expressions, represented the importance of human connections. The poetic presentation invited everyone to enjoy the small pleasures of life rather than spend time with their gadgets.

A warm welcome was extended to Ms Kanchan Lata Pant, who was felicitated for her long tenure and contributions to the school. In her address, she encouraged students to find a healthy balance between digital and real-world experiences. She inspired young minds to remain balanced and the importance of being mindful.

The Principal Ms Ritu Kohli reminded everyone present about the responsible use of technology and requested the community to remember that it is all in the name of human connection. This assembly was not just a student event but a call to the community to rethink their relationship with technology, to find that middle ground of balance and fulfilment.
