“Know me for my abilities, not my disability.” – Robert M. Hensel. The 18-year-old singer Devansh reminded people to look beyond his autism as he enchanted the audience with his soulful voice at the 14th Edition of International We Care Film Festival held at Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication on the Issue of Disability last week.

Devansh is a neurodivergent child prodigy who has won more than 25 national level awards for his singing prowess. He was also the first autistic singer to perform at TedX at the age of 15.

Like him, the film festival also provided a platform to many other specially-abled children to display their talents. The two-day festival saw enthusiastic participation from Ashish Foundation, a charitable trust serving people with autism and other disabilities. Children from the foundation gave live performances during the festival to present their talents in various artistic fields.

In addition to the showcasing of films and performances, International We Care Film Festival also held a photography and painting exhibition where students from schools and colleges across Delhi NCR presented their take on the issues of disability.
